This authorisation marks a defining milestone for the group and a significant moment for the digital asset payments sector in Australia. ByteConnect is one of Australia’s first proprietary built digital asset payments infrastructures, enabling merchants and consumers to accept, process and settle digital asset payments seamlessly and compliantly. Supporting Bitcoin, stablecoins and other digital assets across both on-chain transactions and the Lightning Network, ByteConnect brings digital asset acceptance into the realm of practical, everyday commerce.

The licence provides the regulatory foundation to scale with confidence. It is a critical step as ByteFederal Australia builds toward becoming a trusted global gateway and redefines the next generation of banking capabilities, and it reflects a deliberate commitment to operating within Australia's financial services framework rather than at its edges.

What is ByteConnect?

ByteConnect is the payment gateway and payment rail that allows a business to accept Bitcoin, stablecoins and other digital assets as a form of payment. It is engineered to operate alongside a merchant's existing systems rather than replace them, providing a compliant, fully managed pathway to digital asset acceptance without requiring the business to understand or manage the underlying technology.

The platform is deployed across two environments. It integrates directly into physical payment systems, terminals and kiosks for in person commerce, and into online payment gateways for e-commerce and digital checkout. Both environments are powered by the same settlement engine, the same compliance framework and the same reconciliation and reporting layer, allowing a business to operate from a single unified platform regardless of where a payment originates.

Payment Terminals, POS Systems and Kiosks

For retail, hospitality, luxury and self-service environments, ByteConnect integrates into payment terminals, point of sale systems and standalone kiosks. At checkout, the customer is presented with a QR code and completes payment from any compatible Bitcoin or Lightning wallet, with the transaction confirming in seconds. Lightning Network payments settle near instantly, making ByteConnect particularly well suited to quick service restaurants (QSR), cafés and other high throughput environments where speed at the counter is critical. On-chain transactions are equally supported for larger or less time sensitive payments, making ByteConnect an equally strong fit for luxury and high value retail such as jewellers, watch dealers, automotive, art and property, where customers increasingly wish to transact in digital assets and merchants benefit from settlement certainty on higher ticket purchases. For the merchant, across every environment, the experience is as familiar as accepting a card payment, with no requirement to hold, convert or manage digital assets directly.

Online: E-Commerce and Digital Payment Gateways

For online businesses, ByteConnect integrates into existing e-commerce platforms and digital checkout flows as a payment gateway. Customers select digital asset payment at checkout and complete the transaction from their wallet, on-chain or over Lightning, with the same speed and reliability as the in person experience. This opens access to a global base of digital asset holders and delivers a modern payment option that settles cleanly into a merchant's existing operations, whether they are running an online storefront, a subscription platform or a digital service.

Settlement, Reconciliation and Fund Management

ByteConnect is a complete, end to end payments package. Once a payment is received, the settlement process is managed in full. Merchants can choose to settle in Bitcoin or stablecoins and retain the digital asset, or settle in Australian dollars, in which case ByteConnect converts the payment at the point of transaction and removes exposure to price volatility. Every transaction is captured within a full reconciliation statement, providing businesses with a clear, auditable record that maps directly to their accounting and reporting obligations.

Where a client chooses to hold their own digital assets, ByteConnect integrates directly with ByteVault, ByteFederal Australia's self custodial Bitcoin and Lightning wallet. This allows a merchant or consumer to receive, hold and manage their own funds in their own wallet, retaining full control of their keys, with complete visibility through a connected web wallet portal. Acceptance, settlement, reconciliation and self custody sit within one integrated ecosystem, giving businesses the flexibility to operate on their own terms while remaining fully compliant.

A Foundation to Build On

The granting of AFSL 700103 represents far more than a regulatory approval. It is the foundation on which ByteFederal Australia is building the next generation of digital asset payments infrastructure for Australia and beyond. This milestone affirms the group's commitment to compliance, innovation and long term growth, and it is only the beginning.
